VDB Explosion Pack

This pack contains 8 high quality VDB explosions that you can quickly import into Blender and use with both Cycles and Eevee. Watch the tutorial below to learn how easy it is to import and shade them. I also included a low resolution version of each simulation for smaller file sizes and added an explanatory PDF.

What are VDB files?

VDB is an open source file format specifically designed for volumetric data like fire & smoke, clouds or water. It was developed by DreamWorks Animation and is now supported by most industry standard software. OpenVDB was introduced to Blender in the version 2.83.

Why not use Mantaflow instead?

Of course you can simulate your own explosions with Mantaflow in Blender, but keep in mind that this will cost you a lot of time and you already need to have a basic knowledge of simulating fire & smoke. The VDB simulations provided in this pack take less than 10 minutes to import into your scene! You don't believe me?
